Project Overview:

Culture is a strong part of people's lives. It influences their views, their values, their humor, their hopes, their loyalties, and their worries and fears. So when you are working with people and building relationships with them, it helps to have some perspective and understanding of their cultures.  If cultural groups join forces, they will be more effective in reaching common goals than if each group operates in isolation. Each of us can build the kinds of communities we dream of. In our families, organizations, institutions, and neighborhoods, we can insist that we won't remain isolated from those who are different from ourselves.   It’s simply a matter of raising awareness — sending a message to under-represented groups in IT - that you can be an important part of the information technology industry. There are a growing number of organizations that equip diverse youth with the knowledge and tools to start a digital career. Our hope is that through joining forces, our students can express their passion and knowledge for programming and the Culture Shock students from around the valley can express their passion and knowledge for hip-hop and dance. The result, we hope, will be uplifting, educational and inspiring to all cultures.
