Prospective Student Open Computer Lab Hours

Parents and prospective students, Southwest Career and Technical Academy is providing you three opportunities to come in and complete your on-line application. You will be able to explore the different programs with the help of current students.

The library/computer lab will be open from 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. for your convenience on Dec. 7th, 2011 & Feb. 1st, 2012. Please take this opportunity before the deadline of February 6, 2012 to complete your application. You will enter the school through the main office and proceed up the stairs to the library

Program and Elective Course Fees

All program and elective fees were due on September 8, 2011.

Program and elective fees can be paid online. There is a small service charge for your credit or debit card transaction. To avoid these fees, you may pay program and elective fees by cash, check or money order. Parents or students may pay course fees to the school banker during normal business hours. If you would like to pay online, please visit the SWCTA Webstore. Please refer to your course fee insert that was mailed to you in August for the breakdown of our course fees.

Welcome to the Southwest Career and Technical Academy website. We are very proud of the eleven programs we are offering to the high school students in our community. The school is divided into two smaller learning communities – the Design Academy and the Professional Service Academy. Within the smaller learning communities, students share English, math, science, social studies, electives, and program classes with fellow students who share a common career interest. In the classroom, project-based learning activities will simulate real-world experiences, preparing the students for entry into the world of work, post-secondary training, or college and university life.

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

Congratulations to SWCTA! We have been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School. The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for schools that have demonstrated Apple’s highest vision of a successful 21st century learning environment. We are the first school in Nevada to receive this recognition. This honor is due to our school’s innovative use of educational technology and providing students with a 21st century learning environment both within the school and at home. There are only fifty-six K-12 schools across the nation that share in this recognition. Thank you for your support of our school and the students. The next Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting is scheduled for February 15th at 6:00 pm in the Banquet room. Please park in the west parking lot in front of the B building.

There will be no school on Monday, February 20 and Tuesday, February 21.

Our first graduation will be June 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM. The ceremony will be held at the Orleans.
